About Great Canadian - 40 Years & Counting!

Great Canadian was originally founded by Lorna and Larry Hundt as Travel Ventures in 1984, specializing in group travel to destinations spanning North America. 40 years later, the company has grown exponentially, diversifying its initiatives. Great Canadian operates a full motorcoach division with over 50 coaches, three garages and the most modern fleet in Ontario. The tour division offers a broad array of multi-day tours geared towards a wide range of travellers.

Our commitment to promoting Canadian unity has motivated us to paint our coaches on various Canadian themes, with original exterior paintings and vibrant vinyl graphics. Each one has significant meaning, and we hope that all our travellers consider themselves "Canadian Ambassadors" as we travel the highways and byways.

We are proud to belong to the 60-company strong Trailways association of coach companies in Canada and the United States. We offer assistance to each other in the sharing of ideas, assisting with coach repairs, back-up support, driver relief and preferred suppliers for group buying power. Learn more about our affiliations.

Our History & Our Mascot

Corporal Mackenzie is the mascot of Great Canadian Holidays & Coaches. This beloved beaver was designed by the late Dave Sopha in collaboration with Larry and Lorna Hundt. Dave not only painted the beautiful images of Canada on our big blue coaches, he  also breathed new life into our brand. Corporal Mackenzie was unveiled onstage to hundreds of clients during a large reunion tour near Toledo Ohio in 1998, when we announced our name change from Travel Ventures to Great Canadian Holidays & Coaches. His humble, warm, and enthusiastic personality mirrors his proud Canadian roots, and his image can be found hiding on every coach. Try to spot him on your next Great Canadian getaway!
