PROTECTION PLUS: This cancellation protection is offered by Great Canadian Holidays and can only be purchased at the time of booking. Great Canadian Holidays strongly recommends taking Protection Plus coverage. It entitles you to a full refund of the price paid for your tour if it is cancelled for any reason up until your tours departure time. For this protection to be valid, your cancellation must be received by phone at 1-800-461-8687 (do not leave a voicemail). Passengers who do not phone in their cancellation will be considered a no-show and will not be able to claim a refund under Protection Plus. Please note, this is not insurance, and is not meant to replace medical or trip interruption insurance coverage. If taking advantage of our pre-tour hotel stay, passengers are responsible for the cost of the hotel room if Protection Plus is claimed after checking into the hotel.
COVID 19 HEALTH PROTOCOLS: All passengers are to supply their own face masks, which must be properly worn at all times while onboard the coach. Locations visited on our tours may have their own COVID 19 protocols in place, and passengers agree to comply with their conditions in order to participate.
You will not be permitted to board the coach if you have travelled outside of Canada in the previous 14 days, have been identified as a close contact of a positive COVID 19 case in the last 14 days, or have been advised that you should be isolating. Boarding will also be denied if you have any of the following symptoms that are not related to other conditions:
Fever or chills
Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
Cough, sore throat, trouble swallowing
Runny nose/nasal congestion, decrease or loss of smell or taste
Nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain
Feeling unwell, extreme fatigue, sore muscles, pink eye
If boarding is denied due to the above health screening, standard cancellation penalties apply. We encourage the purchase of Protection Plus, available on all 2021 tours, which will protect the cost of the tour up until the time of boarding, and includes any health or COVID 19-related cancellations. While we are taking all precautions to ensure safety, there is an inherent risk to being exposed to COVID 19 whenever we are in settings with other people. By travelling, you are accepting this risk and understand that Great Canadian Holidays and Coaches cannot be responsible for any COVID 19 exposure that you may encounter during your tour, whether onboard the motorcoach or at any of the venues or locations visited. Great Canadian Holidays is not responsible for any additional costs to you if your trip is interrupted because of COVID.
The very best way we can ensure safety for all is to require that all passengers on our tours be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. It will now be mandatory for all passengers travelling on our tours to have completed their full round of COVID-19 vaccinations a minimum of 14 days prior to departure.
SEATING PLANS: Due to COVID restrictions, seats on the coach are now assigned at time of booking and there will be no seat rotation. Great Canadian reserves the right to make changes to assigned seating in order to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers.
TRAVEL INSURANCE: Great Canadian Holidays recommends the purchase of out of country/province medical travel insurance including coverage for trip cancellation and trip interruption through Allianz Global Assistance. There may be additional health care costs that exceed benefits under OHIP (Ontario Heath Insurance Plan) if you need to seek medical treatment outside of the country/province. Please note our Cancellation Penalties below when considering whether to purchase trip cancellation/interruption insurance.

AIR AND CRUISE TOURS: Although not anticipated, prices are subject to change in the unlikely event of significant currency fluctuation or unforeseen fuel surcharges.
PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED PASSENGERS: are more than welcome to travel with us, however you MUST have a capable travelling companion to assist you at all times and the office must be notified of any disabilities when reservations are made. Some tours may present difficulties for the physically challenged. It is the responsibility of users of walkers or wheelchairs to have with them an able-bodied assistant to stow the unit on the motor coaches. GREAT CANADIAN is unable to supply wheelchairs. Although not recommended, by prior arrangement only, and depending upon size, pickup location and tour, electric scooters can be accommodated. Please discuss this when booking. Portable oxygen is allowed only in small carry-on containers and must be carefully secured in an upright position in hand luggage. At this time, our drivers and tours directors are not able to offer assistance to passengers with getting on or off the coach.
BAGGAGE HANDLING: One large case will be tagged with our special GREAT CANADIAN HOLIDAYS tag for easier handling at hotels, if included. The cost of porterage for one case will be paid by GREAT CANADIAN HOLIDAYS. Small luggage can be placed in the overhead racks. You are responsible for the handling of any carry-on luggage. Please note that on certain flight/cruise tours you may be required to go through security checks carrying your bags. This is something we have no control over, and suggest that you use bags with wheels. Passengers are responsible for any charges for checked bags on flight tours. *There may be some hotels that do not offer baggage handling in 2021. Passengers will be responsible for carrying their own bags in these rare cases.
FINAL CONFIRMATION: You will receive a final confirmation of your trip, confirming your pick-up time, approximately two weeks before departure. Your driver or tour director will have your luggage tag to attach to your suitcase.
NAME BADGES: Your tour director will issue you a badge on the morning of departure.
SMOKING: Smoking is not permitted on the coaches. Frequent stops will be made. More hotels are becoming 100% non smoking, therefore we cannot guarantee that a request for a smoking room can be fulfilled. We apologize for any inconvenience.
FRAGRANCES: In consideration of your fellow passengers, please refrain from using perfume and cologne/aftershave.
REQUIRED TRAVEL DOCUMENTATION: A passport is required to enter the United States and other international destinations. This process is easier than ever, and application forms are available online at www.ppt.gc.ca/can - please allow adequate time for the application to be processed before your date of travel. Non-Canadian citizens should check their consulate for accurate and timely information on required documentation.
PLEASE NOTE: We are not responsible for individuals denied entry into Canada or international destinations by border officials and are not responsible for providing transportation back home.
FREE ACCOMMODATION FOR OUT-OF-TOWN TRAVELLERS: For multi-day tours, we are pleased to offer complimentary overnight accommodation prior to the first day of the tour in Kitchener or Cambridge. This is specifically for our travellers from 100 or more kilometres from Kitchener-Waterloo, who wish to drive their car to the hotel and begin the tour refreshed and relaxed. Details are available from your travel agent or from our reservations personnel.
JOINING FRIENDS ON TOUR: If you are travelling with a friend from a distant city it may not always be possible to travel on the same coach if there are multiple coaches on that departure. You may have to meet up at the hotel on the first night and continue together from there.
GRATUITIES: When meals are included in the tour price, gratuities are also included. When buying meals on tour, keep in mind that gratuities are very important to restaurant staff. Good restaurant stops can be hard to keep if tour groups do not show appreciation for the service and effort put forth by the staff. As for the driver and tour director, it is customary to show your appreciation based on the level of service received. In this way, you can decide what their performance was worth and you will also know for sure they actually receive their gratuities.
COACHES: The motor coaches used on our tours are of the latest design with air suspension ride, climate control, reclining seats, washroom facilities, stereo music and much more. For nearly all of our tours we use our own coaches, however, during busy times or when our coaches are off the road for important regular mechanical service, we charter quality coaches from carefully selected companies. Our coaches are not wheelchair accessible.
CURRENCY: All prices shown are in Canadian funds, and include HST where applicable. Although it is not anticipated, prices are subject to change if there is a significant change in the status of the Canadian dollar or fluctuations in airfare.
SPECIAL ACCOMMODATION REQUESTS: Accommodation is included on all tours. Room assignments are always done by the hotel in an impartial fashion. Therefore, if you have special needs, such as a room adjacent to a friend, please let us know at time of booking and we will inform the hotels. It cannot always be done, but the hotels will try to accommodate us to the best of their ability. ll hotel rooms will be requested as 'non-smoking' unless otherwise requested at time of booking.
