One Day Getaways Terms & Conditions

Terms and Conditions of GREAT CANADIAN HOLIDAYS INC. hereinafter referred to as GREAT CANADIAN HOLIDAYS.

RESERVATIONS: A booking online or through our office, requires that full payment be made at time of booking to secure a place on a tour.  Please ensure that the spelling of all names is correct and correspond to the names listed on your passport/government documentation.  It is the responsibility of you/passenger to review the invoice and ensure that all names are correct.  We accept payment by MasterCard and VISA, or if in person, by cheque or INTERAC.

TRAVEL INSURANCE: If the one-day Getaway is travelling outside Canada, we recommend the purchase of TIC Health emergency travel insurance. You may purchase insurance on-line at insurance.greatcanadianholidays.com or by calling our office.

CANCELLATION PENALTIES: Once a booking is made, all payments received are non-refundable. Name substitutions are allowed, only on prior arrangement with our Reservations staff.

PROTECTION PLUS: This cancellation protection is offered by Great Canadian Holidays and can only be purchased at the time of booking. Great Canadian Holidays strongly recommends taking Protection Plus coverage. It entitles you to a full refund of the price paid for your tour if it is cancelled for any reason up until your tour’s departure time. For this protection to be valid, your cancellation must be received by phone at 1-800-461-8687 (do not leave a voicemail). Passengers who do not phone in their cancellation will be considered a “no-show” and will not be able to claim a refund under Protection Plus. Please note, this is not insurance, and is not meant to replace medical or trip interruption insurance coverage. If taking advantage of our pre-tour hotel stay, passengers are responsible for the cost of the hotel room if Protection Plus is claimed after checking into the hotel.

COVID 19 HEALTH PROTOCOLS: All passengers are to supply their own face masks, which must be properly worn at all times while onboard the coach. Locations visited on our tours may have their own COVID 19 protocols in place, and passengers agree to comply with their conditions in order to participate.

You will not be permitted to board the coach if you have travelled outside of Canada in the previous 14 days, have been identified as a “close contact” of a positive COVID 19 case in the last 14 days, or have been advised that you should be isolating. Boarding will also be denied if you have any of the following symptoms that are not related to other conditions:

  • Fever or chills

  • Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath

  • Cough, sore throat, trouble swallowing

  • Runny nose/nasal congestion, decrease or loss of smell or taste

  • Nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain

  • Feeling unwell, extreme fatigue, sore muscles, pink eye

If boarding is denied due to the above health screening, standard cancellation penalties apply. We encourage the purchase of Protection Plus, available on all 2021 tours, which will protect the cost of the tour up until the time of boarding, and includes any health or COVID 19-related cancellations.

While we are taking all precautions to ensure safety, there is an inherent risk to being exposed to COVID 19 whenever we are in settings with other people. By travelling, you are accepting this risk and understand that Great Canadian Holidays and Coaches cannot be responsible for any COVID 19 exposure that you may encounter during your tour, whether onboard the motorcoach or at any of the venues or locations visited.  Great Canadian Holidays is not responsible for any additional costs to you if your trip is interrupted because of COVID.

SEATING PLANS: Due to COVID restrictions, seats on the coach are now assigned at time of booking and there will be no seat rotation.  Great Canadian reserves the right to make changes to assigned seating in order to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers.

PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED PASSENGERS: are more than welcome to travel with us, however you MUST have a capable travelling companion to assist you at all times and the office must be notified of any disabilities when reservations are made. Some tours may present difficulties for the physically challenged. It is the responsibility of users of walkers or wheelchairs to have with them an able-bodied assistant to stow the unit on the motor coaches. At this time, our drivers and tours directors are not able to offer assistance to passengers with getting on or off the coach.

GREAT CANADIAN HOLIDAYS is unable to supply wheelchairs. Although not recommended, by prior arrangement only, and depending upon size, pickup location and tour, electric scooters can be accommodated. Please discuss this when booking. Portable oxygen is allowed only in small carry-on containers and must be carefully secured in an upright position in hand luggage.

SMOKING: Smoking of any kind is not permitted on the coach. Frequent stops will be made.

REQUIRED TRAVEL DOCUMENTATION: A passport is required to enter the United States and other international destinations. This process is easier than ever, and application forms are available online at www.ppt.gc.ca/can - please allow adequate time for the application to be processed before your date of travel. Non-Canadian citizens should check their consulate for accurate and timely information on required documentation. PLEASE NOTE: We are not responsible for individuals denied entry into Canada or international destinations by border officials and are not responsible for providing transportation back home.

GRATUITIES: When meals are included in the tour price, gratuities are also included. When buying meals on tour, keep in mind that gratuities are very important to restaurant staff. Good restaurant stops can be hard to keep if tour groups do not show appreciation for the service and effort put forth by the staff. As for the driver and tour director, it is customary to show your appreciation based on the level of service received. In this way, you can decide what their performance was worth and you will also know for sure they actually receive their gratuities.

COACHES: The motor coaches used on our tours are of the latest design with air suspension ride, climate control, reclining seats, washroom facilities, stereo music and much more. For nearly all of our tours we use our own coaches, however, during busy times or when our coaches are off the road for important regular mechanical service, we charter quality coaches from carefully selected companies. Our coaches are not wheel chair accessible.

CURRENCY: All prices shown are in Canadian funds, and include HST where applicable. Although it is not anticipated, prices are subject to change if there is a significant change in the status of the Canadian dollar.

PUBLICATION & WEBSITE ERRORS: Although great care is taken in the production of our website and catalogue, typographical, illustrative or pricing errors may occur. We reserve the right to correct any errors.

PRIVACY POLICY: At Great Canadian, your privacy is important to us. Personal information that we request from you is used by us to organize your travel plans with our tour suppliers. Some examples of how we share this information would be providing your age to the travel insurance company, your phone number to the cruise and air lines, and your address for casinos to produce your player’s card. We do not sell, nor do we give away your postal or email address to anyone for any other purpose. By travelling on one of our tours, or upon requesting information from us in the mail, you are authorizing us to send periodic information to you on up-coming tours or promotions by mail. If you prefer not to receive periodic information from us on our upcoming tours, please contact us.
